TARGET 150527

A STRANGER SAVES THE DAY

My dog fell in!!!

A woman was walking her dog on the waterfront in Melbourne, Australia when a sudden gust of wind blew the little dog into the sea.

Helpless, afraid and confused, the dog began drifting out on the current.

A young man passing by saw the situation and had the courage and caring to do something about the plight of both the woman and her dog. He quickly stripped down to his underwear and headed over the railing to rescue the helpless animal.

Seeing that someone was coming to help, the dog began swimming closer.

The current was strong, though, and a simple act of hanging onto the pier and reaching for the dog was out of the question. The man would have to let go of his own safe hold and go out into the water for the rescue.

The little dog was tiring quickly, and struggling against the current.

But the young man finally reached the dog and, keeping it above water, began bringing it back to the pier.

Holding the dog in one arm and struggling to climb the pier with the other, he finally reached to top, where the woman was waiting.

He handed the dog to her and was then able to climb to the top of the pier, himself.

There, he got a hero's welcome from the woman, and cheers from others who had been watching the event unfold.

The woman was overjoyed to tears that she had her treasured dog back.

And the dog got a warm towel and lots of love.

The two have lived safely and much more carefully ever since
