In old Russia they hung thieves and murderers on the gates like this… ----------------------- http://visualrian.ru/en/site/lightbox/7548/ ---------------------------------- http://eng.tatar-inform.ru/news/2014/08/04/48508/ Blue Berets celebrate Air Landing Troops Day in Kazan Print version Blue Berets celebrate Air Landing Troops Day in Kazan 4 August 2014,11:55 Photo by: Vasily Ivanov The official public meeting took place by Gorky Park. (Kazan, 2 August, Tatar-inform, Yulia Revina). An official celebration of Air Landing Troops Day took place in Kazan on Saturday. Traditionally, the official part of the celebration involving a mass forming-up, an organised march and greetings was held at the monument by city’s Gorky Park. ‘Winged infantry’ representatives began to appear at the meeting place long before the scheduled time, with a total of a few hundred paratroopers gathering. “The 2nd of August is like the Homeland Defender’s Day for us,” soldier Andrei Yarukhin shared. The senior generation of paratroopers traditionally welcomed their younger comrades, Kazan branch of Russian Paratroopers’ Union head, Evgeny Dragunov, reading out a greeting message from union’s chairman, Valery Vostrotin. “Each paratrooper has been through a school of courage and valour. Landing troops stand for utmost courage, first-degree bravery and number-one combat alertness. In all wars, ‘winged infantry’ soldiers have been involved in the most difficult and dangerous operations. They have fought until their last drop of blood, displaying feats of courage and gallantry. The landing troops are now in a new development stage, remaining Russian Armed Forces’ highly mobile reserve, the force able to rebut any adversary. Whoever offends Russia will have to deal with the landing troops,” he read out. Veteran paratrooper Pavel Kletnev called on his comrades to be equal to the blue beret’s honour. “ Be worthy of the grandfathers and great grandfathers who fell for our homeland’s independence. They did their military duty honestly. All of you took the military oath, so be worthy of it throughout your life,” he said. Elder paratroopers reminded the younger 'berets' that good manners were called for while celebrating. The ceremony concluded with demonstration performances, after which the paratroopers went up to the monument to soldiers who had fought abroad. Upon laying flowers, they commemorated their fallen comrades with a minute’s silence. *A
