Its role in the Far Eastern energetic system is very significant. The HPP regulates the frequency of an energetic system as well as daily and weekly irregularities of load. The highest spot of the dam is 115,5 m, its length is 714 m. The HPP was built 35 years old. During its construction the severe climate of the Far East was taken into consideration. It has a number of unique characteristics. Thus, the stability of the HPP is ensured by the weight of the construction and special abutments. Besides, it has diagonal turbines which are rather complex but much more effective in work. The HPP does not only produce electric energy but also protects the adjacent area from severe floods due to a huge water reservoir. The place is inhabited by a big colony of ground squirrels. The machinery room. Water makes the turbine rotate in the spiral chamber. The rotor can be seen from here. People must not stay at the place when the machine is working with the rotation speed of 136,4 rotations per minute. There is much empty space inside a dam. 6 floors. Dark corridors. Do you see the stones and pieces of metal? There used to be a quay that had been destructed in 2007 due to severe flood. In 1928 there was a similar severe flood that lasted 2 months and destructed 160 inhabited localities. Today the situation with the adjacent inhabited areas is handled easily thanks to the HPP.
