Corrales Historical Society Mud Day Event 2008 What: “Mud Day Weekend” at the Old Church When: April 26 & 27, 9am – 4pm Where: Old San Ysidro Church on Old Church Road across from Casa San Ysidro Come on out and play in the mud! It’s that time of year, when Friends and Neighbors of Corrales get together to mix and apply adobe mud to the walls of the Old Church and take care of other restoration details. This year, the mudding will take place on the annex building and front wall of the church. This special event is affectionately known as “Mudder’s Day Weekend.” Volunteers have a wonderful time working together and sharing the experience of caring for these historic buildings. Be sure to bring the family, as there are fun jobs for all age groups. To get the job done right, training will be provided so people can learn how to properly apply the mud. In addition to “mudding,” pruning and cleaning of the landscape will take place. Work up an appetite, and then enjoy the great lunch that’s provided by the Historical Society Docents. The Old Church is still plastered with adobe mud, as it was when it was first constructed in 1869. In spite of our relatively dry climate, the mud walls need to be re-plastered every year or so. For information on volunteer opportunities for "Mudding Day Weekend", email Jerry Goss at jegoss@comcast.net. The event is sponsored by the Corrales Historical Society: www.corraleshistory.org Publicity Contact: Debbie Clemente 505-899-2772 http://www.corraleshistory.org/html/mud_day.html “Mud Day” at the Old Church, April 26-27, 2008 The Preservation and Maintenance Committee sponsors an event which has come to be called “Mudders’ Day Weekend.” Friends and neighbors come together to help mix and apply adobe mud to the walls of the Old Church and attend to any other details of restoration that need doing. Anywhere from 30 to 50 people have come to volunteer and there are jobs for everyone of whatever age.
